Active Hobby Front Motor Conversion prototype has now moved onto the version 2. Changes have been made to the original prototype, now with new features and improvements. This new prototype seems more capable than its preprocessor, it wont be long before this chassis hits the market as well.
Looks good so far, the next step will be to test the FR 2WD setup for feasibility. Active has admitted it will be difficult process, but not impossible! We look forward to see what this front motor monster is capable of.
A closer look at the new Front One-way unit for the front motor conversion.
Changes have been made and new parts are manufactured. Significant changes like shortening the front motor mount to reduce the overhang, this will reduce weight and change balance characteristics.
This new prototype utilizes the OTA-R31 suspension arms, caster hubs and steering knuckle. It will still be compatible with Tamiya suspension arms, but the R31 parts are narrower for more steering clearance and damper positioning. This should easily yield better steering geometry.
The rear of the chassis can now be fitted with the R31 rear diffuser. The rear bulkhead will be a from the TA-06 front bulkhead. This way it will be compatible with Tamiya TA-06 differentials.
The steering assembly will allow for Ackerman adjustments. Parallel geometry is also available with a large steering angle.

Hmmm…. now this is some real comp for that MST FR chassis that’s coming out. But 60 degrees is 60 degrees…….
If they’re going to use street jam suspension, I wonder if there is any point in using a ta06 drive train. It’s not worth parting out a ta06 for those few parts, and using a pulley/belt system in the front will be more streamlined than a gear reduction system with 3 gears. I’m guessing underdriving front wheels is out of question with this setup.
Funkrenegade I feel you on that brother! they should use parts that are already out there! The up side is it gives reasons to buy aluminum parts for the TAO6 if you do get the conversion, I like blue parts!
looks like the parts from the ta06 will be minimal, which could probably be obtained from 3rd party manufacturer for a lower price. This conversion kit is shaping up to be a kit on its own, but you know Active, it will be an interesting kit.
i wish this kit will arrive at malaysia soon..
the MST already arrived..but i not really like it..
to active hobby kit yeah…its damn gud if i got it…hope the price also gud for my budget
This is only the 2nd prototype, so it might still be another month before release. At least now there are options for Front motor setup!
You mean the MST FS front motor conversion kit. We expect that MST FS-01D will be the first full front motor chassis release later this month.
I alrdy have a TA06 so im so stoked for this baby, RWD is mad fun.
hopefully it comes soon…..
hello
is there anywhere i can buy parts from this conversion seperatly
as this is probably the closest thing to the devil chassis
thank you
