There are some very cool chassis and conversion kits that are due out for released in the coming weeks or months. The latest question of the month for
August is: What upcoming chassis/kit are you most interested in?
Please spend a minute and vote, to let us know which is the most anticipated chassis in the last half of 2012.
The question of the month for July was: Are clone chassis worth it? Everyone has their personal experiences with these products, most of the feedback we receive shows they are not worth it in the long run as most parts end up being replaced with true OEM products. You end up spending more in the long run to keep it running. The majority of the clone chassis are of problematic quality and questionable business ethics.
Readers of Driftmission.com were asked to vote on the clone manufacturers issue. The most popular answer is “No, you get what you pay for”, second is “Depends on chassis”, third is “Never support clone manufacturers”, and in last place with the lowest amount of votes “Yes they are cheap”. These results show that most people are aware of the quality of clone manufacturers and also the business ethics of cloning. Cloning is a highly contested topic of conversation in the RC Drift community. The more popular his hobby becomes, the more it will be subject to this type of exploits. As consumers, we need to be more aware of what we are buying and how we spend, these habits will directly result in how well new companies can survive the clone phenomenon.
Thanks to all that voted, July 2012 question of the month was a success.
Breakdown of July 2012 Poll Results
Are Clone Chassis Worth it?
Answer # of Votes 68 60 Never support clone manufacturers! 41 Yes! They are cheap. 30 Total # of Votes: 199
Another way of analysing the results is to combine the “No! You get what you pay for” and “Never support clone manufacturers” into one category, since it contains the same meaning. When these two are combine, it shows an overwhelming 55% of RC Drifters do not support the cloning of chassis or the clone manufacturers. These results should give you an indication as to how the RC Drift community feels about this issue. The majority know that cloning does nothing but hurt the hobby. By supporting the clones, you are not giving credit to the original creators, you are robbing them of it. These original manufacturers have spent countless amount of time and money to research and develop their products. Cloners just come by and steal it… just think about who you are supporting and why.

This sentiment would be a lot easier to believe if you didn’t allow the open discussion of cloned products and cloning companies on your forum…
I’m sorry you feel this way, we do not support them on DriftMission.com. However the forum is a place to discuss RC Drifting as a whole, the good and the bad. We in no way endorse the comments or suggestions made by users in our forum. If there was some indication that was the case I apologize as it was not intended.
We have posted in the past how bad these companies are and how they hurt the marketplace and community.
