Active Hobby Japan has just restocked on their popular damper pistons for RC Drift. The tapered pistons are designed so that a dual damper rate can be achieved. These are installed such that the oil can flow through faster in one direction than the other. These drift pistons are made for a variety of popular dampers, including Tamiya TRF, Yokomo DRB and Yokomo Drift Package dampers. Dual dampening rates are useful for greater control and stability when drifting. This is a very useful option part and worth checking out.
These Active Hobby damper pistons are used to control the speed of the dampers. Installed properly, they will compress fast and rebound slowly. The fast compression allows for better absorption during cornering. The slow rebound will help keep the car more stable and easier to control as it wont suddenly change. This mod is especially useful for countersteer modified drifters, it will help stabilize the chassis during longer drifters and sudden throttle changes. The speed of damper operation can still be controlled with the weight of damper fluid used.
These pistons will achieve the same effect as the Hamster D.I.Y. mod that is featured in the Driftmission.com Custom Modifications section.

The kit for TRF fits perfect on Mst Fs-01d suspension..when i drive first time with stock Mst piston after 2 days driving upgrade the Mst piston with the new Active Hobby !!!AMAZING!! Before.. when i am in full lock is too difficult with the stock steering angle to swichback…very slow and sometimes locked..!!after when fit in the rear suspension the active hobby piston with 300 oil..the problem fixed 80%..so simple and so cheap..!!
Yes I agree, dual-rate dampers really help with CS. Thank you for sharing with us that the TRF version is compatible with MST dampers!! 😀
i need to get these!
I have these in TA-06 and DRB that work well

Hello my friend 🙂
I have been looking at Active Hobby webpage since you shared this with us, but the English page isn’t working. Would you have any ideas how I could purchase these products from them??
I’m looking at ordering the Type C Lower Chassis Plate, TRF Dampers and these Damper Pistons for the TRFs in the next few days, but am experiencing issues with Active Hobbys Web Page Sadly 🙁
I seem to be able to access it… perhaps its only from certain locations?
Hope you find everything you are looking for 🙂
G’day Mate,
I sadly couldn’t find them through Active Hobby, but was able to find the exact same part through Banzai 🙁 …… Sad I had to source them else where, but happy to be able to try them in my new TRF shocks when I receive those too 🙂 ………………. Thankyou so much for making us all aware of this awesome product my friend 🙂
Can these damper pistons be used for the HB TC-FD Dampers?
The Tamiya TRF pistons might fit, but not 100% sure…. Hopefully someone else has tried and is willing to share with everyone 🙂
