The new basic machine “Rookie Speed RD2.0” is released by Yokomo, a pioneer of drift radio control.
The design concept is focused on ease of driving, and the base specifications have been improved by improving the turning angle and ensuring rear grip so that even those who are trying drift radio control for the first time can enjoy drift driving right away. The chassis configuration also takes into consideration future expandability, and you can enjoy customizing it by installing optional parts.

Yokomo RD (Rookie Drift) 2.0 Chassis Kit
Features:
- This super standard machine is based on a flexible resin main chassis that prioritizes operability and is designed to be easy to assemble and handle.
- The large urethane bumper absorbs shock and protects the chassis from unexpected crashes.
- Equipped with oil-filled shock absorbers on the front and rear. Since the tire itself is hard and easily transmits shocks and vibrations from the road surface, the shock absorbing effect plays a major role.
- Compared to previous models, the steering angle has been increased, and the range of drift angle control has been expanded to prevent spinning.
- A newly designed steering system that achieves a sharper turning angle and an optimal Ackermann ratio. The settings were derived from repeated driving tests, and the system provides high control even on P-tile surfaces with low road grip, allowing the driver to bring out the best in the front end and exit corners sharply.
- The steering system can be changed into various configurations. It is compatible with the optional slide rack system, and can also be equipped with a servo closer to the battery like the SD2.0. We are planning to release optional conversion sets for each, so be sure to find your favorite configuration!
- The steering block is the latest Trail 0. It responds directly to your input.
- The position of the steering stopper has also been revised, helping to increase the turning angle. The tie rod parts are also L-shaped, and everything is combined to achieve a deep drift angle.
- The battery holder is split into left and right parts, and by selecting the fixing position, it is possible to accommodate standard and short size Li-po batteries.
- When the short size is installed, the height can be changed by simply flipping the battery holder part over, so it can easily fit from thick to thin batteries.
- New gear case for 4-gear transmission improves rear traction during acceleration. Sealed for high dust resistance, the motor mount can also be rotated for fine-tuning of weight balance.
- The rear hub carrier is also a newly designed, state-of-the-art model. The positional relationship between the axle axis and the suspension pin has been revised, with the outer suspension arm now higher than before. This makes it easier for the suspension to sink overall, creating a load biased towards the rear when rolling or accelerating, improving driving stability.
- A new rear suspension mount designed for the RD2.0. Both the front and rear have been made wider, but the rear gearbox has been moved further back than before, and the suspension mount is shaped to cross it. In addition to increasing the load on the rear side, the angle of the universal dogbone also has the effect of increasing rear grip.
- The ESC is now rear-mounted as standard. Many expert drivers’ opinions have been incorporated, and this has resulted in various benefits, such as increased rear load and easier wiring. It is a separate part from the gear case cap, so it is possible to use the conventional brass gear case cap at the same time.
- Depending on the installation position and size of the ESC, it is possible to remove the case cap with the ESC still installed.
- Of course, you can easily access the differential with just four screws, so you can change the settings by adjusting the stiffness of the gear differential or perform maintenance on the ball differential without any stress.
